Unemployment Insurance Rate Increase Under Consideration
Nevada could be hit with a higher state unemployment insurance
tax in 2013. The state Employment Security Council has recommended the average
tax go from 2 percent to 2.25 percent, an increase of $67 per worker.
The final rate will be set in December, taking into account
the recommendation of the council. The state council, during a four-hour
meeting, was presented with myriad options, including boosting the state rate
to 3 percent.
