Unemployment Insurance Rate Increase Under Consideration


Nevada could be hit with a higher state unemployment insurance tax in 2013. The state Employment Security Council has recommended the average tax go from 2 percent to 2.25 percent, an increase of $67 per worker.
The final rate will be set in December, taking into account the recommendation of the council. The state council, during a four-hour meeting, was presented with myriad options, including boosting the state rate to 3 percent.
